Dining Table with Raised Seats

At some point, every preschooler will let their parents know that they’re too cool to eat in a “baby chair” and that they want — no, need — a booster seat on the table. Like a big kid.

There are a large number of booster seats available for toddlers and preschoolers. Don’t get lost in the jungle – we’ve selected some of our favorites that are easy to use, portable, and easy to clean. Here’s a list of prices (lowest to highest):

Chicco Pocket Snack Booster Seat ~$29–Best for younger toddlers

If you want more back support and lift, we love the Chicco Pocket Snack Booster.

The adjustable stand at the bottom provides six inches of extra height (or can be folded up to form a flat seat). The whole thing is firmly attached to the chair by straps under the bottom and around the back, and there is a three-point harness to secure the little one. It folds flat for easy portability, and it also has a removable tray.

Prince Lionheart Booster Seat ~$36–Best for older toddlers/preschoolers

The Prince Lionheart booster seat is designed to be very simple and provides your child with a 3-inch booster. While it doesn’t have straps to secure it to the chair (or to secure your child to the seat), its textured bottom prevents it from slipping when in use. This ultra-simple booster is waterproof, easy to clean, lightweight, and well-received.

Since there are no seat belts, it is more suitable for slightly older children.

Ingenuity Smartclean Toddler Booster ~$39

This popular seat is one of our favorites. It allows your child to gain two inches (without foam inserts) or four inches (with inserts) so you can use it for years. This table booster seat comes with straps to hold the seat securely in your chair and a removable three-point harness to keep your clumsiest toddler in place.

We love that it’s dishwasher safe and that the neutral slate color goes well with almost any kitchen décor. Not to mention, it’s lightweight, portable, and family-friendly for eating out.

Bumbo Toddler Booster Seat ~$44

Similar to the Ingenuity Smartclean, the Bumbo Booster Seat (owned and recommended by Meg and Melissa) is attached to your dining chair with adjustable straps. It has a (non-removable) three-point harness to keep your child well and safe. Easy to clean and transport – if you’re looking for a booster seat with a seat belt, you can’t go wrong with the Bumbo.
