Swaddling Clothes for Babies

Most parents would agree that a swaddling newborn is necessary. There are a variety of baby swaddling products on the market, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

Option 1: Strap on a “Real” Swaddling One

You can tie swaddling clothes with a regular blanket…… But in reality, it doesn’t necessarily work. First of all, you have to do some serious Xi to really get the hang of it. Tying “real” swaddling clothes can be hard to learn.

If you master it, real swaddling can and does fit a lot of families.

But keep in mind that regular swaddling blankets are not so friendly to new parents: to retie the swaddling blankets, you have to turn on the lights, fold the blanket in this way, reposition the baby, etc., etc. – if you still insist on swaddle in an “authentic” way, make sure you have a large square blanket with enough stretch, but don’t try to tie the swaddling blanket with a rectangular receiving blanket – I guarantee you’ll fail.

Another option is a bundled baby swaddling cloth made from a 70/30 bamboo blend with cotton (bamboo is thermostatically regulating, so it’s a great material…… ). They are very soft and OEKO-Tex certified. Available as a single piece (about $24) or a matching swaddle and hat set (about $34), there are a variety of cute prints.

Option 2: Our Favorite Baby Swaddling

Another avenue is to use “swaddling products”, which is honestly what most parents do nowadays. Unless you happen to be a pediatrician or nurse and have already done hours of swaddling Xi, this is my advice.

You may find that certain swaddling products are best suited for babies of different ages – for example, your favorite newborn swaddling may not be the same as your favorite 3-month-old swaddling. Since every baby is different, the same swaddling swaddle may work wonders for one baby but fail completely for another. The takeaway: be prepared to try and make mistakes. Just like baby bottles, I recommend buying them one at a time to see which one works best for you…… Then you’ll want to reserve.

Without further ado, here are some of our favorite baby swaddling products, sorted by price from lowest to highest:

The Summer Infant SwaddleMe Original Swaddle ~$32/3-pack

In the economy category, SwadleMe is a good place to start, and the price is unbeatableSwaddleMe is basically a pouch with wings that is glued together with Velcro to form a nice swaddling.

The Summer Infant SwaddleMe bag is a classic basic swaddling product – they work well for the average baby, but it may not be particularly good if your baby is really squirming or tends to “struggle with swaddling”. Another disadvantage is that the sound of opening the velcro can be very loud and shocking.

It’s very user-friendly, and you can buy cotton or flannel cloth if you want. Season. Note: The small size is suitable for babies under 3 months of age, but is actually a bit large for newborns.

Ergobaby Swaddle~$25

We’re big fans of Ergobaby swaddling. The arm pockets look like a straight-leg baby jacket, but that’s what makes it so effective! The bottom makes your baby’s legs ergonomic, and the leg pockets make it easy to change diapers.

Miracle Blanket ~$29

It’s like rolling up a fat burrito (…… or something else), this blanket can make a pleasantly tight swaddling. It may even be better than Velcro swaddling because there is less chance of falling off (and there is no noise involved in pulling off Velcro). On the downside, some people complain that the miracle blanket is too complicated to roll up, but those who love it will love it.

The happiest Baby Sleepea ~$32

The Sleepea swaddling was designed by Dr. Harvey Karp, author of “The Happiest Baby’s Guide to Quality Sleep” and developer of the expensive SNOO cradle($1700). Aside from the fact that its name may seem a bit unfortunate, Sleepea is actually a very good swaddling.

Combining the best features of Miracle Blanket and Woombie, Sleepea is a fast, easy, and practically well-kept swaddling swaddle. We also like that it has mesh paneling to prevent overheating. Make sure to turn off the velcro before washing (the same is true for any swaddling swaddle with velcro).

The Woombie ~$34

Parents either love or hate this…… The Woombie is a simple zip-top set made of a very comfortable yet stretchy material – and for many of my friends who have tried everything else, it’s the key to sleep success. That is, some babies are still able to swing their fingers (as well as hands and arms) from the top without thinking……

Love to Drea Swaddle UP~$34

The Swaddle UP is a simple, hassle-free zip-top swaddle that wraps the arm upwards, which is obviously more comfortable for many babies. Parents are raving about this swaddling one, which is the number one best-selling swaddling on Amazon. If you have a baby who seems to hate being swaddled, this can be a particularly good option because it changes the baby’s body position.

Ollie Swaddle~$69

Parents who can afford it rave about Ollie’s swaddling. It is made of a thick (but breathable) elastic material and uses Velcro to secure the baby’s arms to the sides of the body. As with other Velcro swaddling clothes, parents complain that the noise can be loud and wake the baby up…… But you shouldn’t really need to tear the suction cup open while your baby is sleeping……

The length can be adjusted using the elastic band at the end, so you can make the whole thing short or long depending on the age of your baby and her.
